A Giant Leap for 3D-Printed Ankle Implants
Exactech just made history with the first-ever total ankle replacement using 3D-printed implants. Custom-made implants allow for simpler surgeries, faster recovery times, and an improved range of motion, marking a major leap forward in personalized medical solutions.
VitaTek POV: Many of our physicians’ projects have 3D-printed needs, and we’re fully equipped to meet this demand. With our in-house 3D printers, we quickly and cost-effectively produce customized devices to support the growth of 3D-printed devices in the market.
This approach goes hand-in-hand with our mission to bring devices to market 70% faster at 70% of the cost.
Medical Device Companies: Beware of Third-Party Labs
The FDA recently issued warning letters to two laboratories for deviating from the correct safety data standards, following new guidance aimed at standardizing data collection across the industry.
These deviations from the FDA's standards have caused confusion and prompted the FDA to put a hold on premarket submissions that used these labs for testing, resulting in significant delays.
VitaTek POV: This highlights the importance of having an in-house regulatory and quality team. Our experts know exactly what standards to look for in third-party labs, ensuring we vet and verify them ourselves.
As a result, our experts help avoid costly delays and keep projects on track.
Spectra & XL-PT Join Forces to Create a Manufacturing Powerhouse
Spectra Medical Devices, known for their procedure needles and wide range of medical supplies, has acquired XL Precision Technologies, a leader in precision micro-components and complex tubular components for the medical device industry.
This strategic merger combines their commercial reach and manufacturing prowess, equipping them to deliver even greater value to customers and meet a broader set of needs.
VitaTek POV: This is a perfect example of thinking smarter, not harder. By combining their strengths, Spectra and XL-PT will streamline their services for emerging innovators and OEMs.
We follow the same philosophy by integrating R&D and manufacturing under one roof, allowing us to bring our customers greater value and faster solutions.
American Medical Device Summit
Our time at the American Medical Device Summit was a huge success! President of R&D & Engineering Rich Thompson and CEO Jason Scherer presented a workshop, revealing “The Secret to Bringing Devices to Market 70% Faster at 70% of the Cost.”
Our sales & marketing team enjoyed a variety of conversations with companies from Founders at the start up stage to Division Heads at the large strategics, covering all topics including product development, product design, regulatory strategies, quality assurance, manufacturing, and commercialization.
Plenty of attendees stopped by the VitaTek booth, curious about the bowl of garlic on our table, which was our cheeky reminder to watch out for vampires - Medical Device consultants who don’t want your product to get to market fast or efficiently.
Next stop: We will have teams at both MD&M Minneapolis and The MedTech Conference in Toronto! See you soon!
